Three things I love:
- Touring historic places
- Doing something I’ve never done before
The best is when all three come together! My British cousins couldn’t get enough of me, even after spending two weeks with me in Iceland and England, so they journeyed across the Atlantic and continued our tradition of lapping up history together. (Okay, they came for my sister’s wedding and not to see me exclusively…nevertheless, we had fun!).
The day after we toured Carlyle House we decided to see Woodlawn and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pope-Leighey House.
You can see Mount Vernon (sort of) through this window.
See the three clusters of tall trees at the horizon? That’s where Mount Vernon is!
The Pope-Leighey House was the first Frank Lloyd Wright home I’ve toured. I’d love to see more! I was fascinated with all of the thought and intention that went into everything.
It’s $20 to tour both homes and parking is free. Woodlawn, like Carlyle House, is a prime spot for weddings!
