I’m writing a book.
Okay, you might have already known that, but there has been so much progress since I last spoke of it on the blog. This story–this great conglomeration of words and keyboard strokes and black and white pages, this package of my emotion and experience and imagination, and these sentences that have been read and re-read and re-written and pulled apart and re-routed–it’s so much closer to becoming an actual book.
My manuscript is in the hands of a copy editor and I have a cover created by a graphic designer.
Exciting! And surprisingly, the whole process has become a lot more fun. I’m done with the novel, and now I get to prepare for self publishing.
The image above is one I pulled from Unsplash as inspiration for a cover design. We ended up not using photography for the cover, but it was fun to talk with the designer about the mood, elements, and overall look I was hoping for (and I’m thrilled with the end result). Other images we looked at and discussed (also from Unsplash) are below:
Of course I’m not doing the big reveal just yet…we’re still finalizing everything and I want the cover to debut along with the book. I’ll keep you updated and will definitely let you know when The Mornings is available!
